The MacArthur Sewer Construction Project is a critical effort to replace aging infrastructure originally built in 1960. This work enhances pipeline reliability and improves operational and maintenance safety to meet current and future demands.
We’re pleased to share that all major construction activities are now complete, and there is no work currently taking place on the roadway.
Crews will return at a later date to complete work at the pump station and wrap up minor final tasks such as inspections. This remaining work will occur during daytime hours and will not impact traffic or road access.
Once a schedule is finalized for this phase, we will provide additional updates.
*All dates and times are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.
Project Benefits:
- This project will replace aging sewer infrastructure originally constructed in 1960.
- The new force mains will enhance the reliability and efficiency of the sewer system.
- Improved operation and maintenance safety will be achieved.
Project Description
The OC San MacArthur Sewer Improvements Project will construct two new pressurized sewer pipelines, or force mains, along 1/3-mile of right-of-way on MacArthur Blvd. in the City of Newport Beach. Additionally, this Project will abandon about 1/2-mile of pipe that is no longer needed and modify an existing access structure located at the intersection of Birch Street and MacArthur Blvd. Work will also occur at the OC San MacArthur Pump Station. Construction is slated to take approximately one year to complete.
