Ongoing Work

Location:  Northeast corner of Seal Beach Blvd. and Westminster Ave., Seal Beach

What’s Happening:  Crews continue working on the wet well and underground structures for the new pump station. They are currently working on subgrade construction activities.

Progress: Excavation has been taking place to get to the 50-foot depth for the new pump station’s wet well.  A pump station wet well is a large underground tank that collects, stores, and pumps sewage into the sewer system.

Impacts:

  • One northbound lane on Seal Beach Blvd. remains closed.
  • Truck traffic entering and exiting the site continues.

Project Description

This project will replace the OC San Seal Beach Pump Station located at the corner of Seal Beach Blvd. and Westminster Ave. in the City of Seal Beach. The new station will be upgraded to new local, state, and national codes as well as have enhanced security measures. The new facility will also have an added odor control system installed.

Project Background

The Seal Beach Pump Station was originally constructed in 1972.  The pumping systems are aging, regularly clog, lack corrosion protection, and have control systems that are rapidly becoming obsolete, all requiring additional attention from maintenance staff.

Additional Information

The bus stop located in front of the pump station on Seal Beach Blvd. at Westminster Ave. has been removed (see picture below) for the duration of the project. Please visit OCTA for alternative routes.
